Wild at Heart (1990)
Visionary filmmaker David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) brings his distinct style to the screen with Wild at Heart, a fiery exploration of love, chaos, and snakeskin jackets.
Based on Barry Gifford’s novel, the film follows Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Inland Empire) as Sailor and Lula, two young lovers fleeing the wrath of Lula's obsessive mother, Marietta (played by Dern’s real-life mother, Diane Ladd, in an Oscar®-nominated role). Their reckless road trip plunges them into the shadowy underbelly of America, filled with danger, temptation, and violence. As the pair’s devotion is tested at every turn, their bond may not survive the ominous threat posed by the enigmatic and terrifying Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe in a hauntingly memorable role).
