Marty Supreme

"Marty Supreme" is a sports drama, loosely inspired by the life of table tennis champion Marty Reisman, following his journey from a hustler in Manhattan to a champion, with Timothée Chalamet in the lead role.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Key Aspects:

Hustler-turned-Champion: The film follows Reisman's transformation from a hustler who played for bets to a champion who won 22 major titles.

Manhattan Roots: The story is rooted in the Lower East Side and downtown Manhattan scene, where Reisman was a fixture.

"Fictionalized Original Film": The film is described as a "fictionalized original film" and not a biopic, suggesting a more creative and less factual approach to the story.

Cast:

Timothée Chalamet stars in the lead role, with Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher, Tyler, the Creator, and Odessa A'zion also appearing in the film.

Director:

Josh Safdie directs the film, marking his directorial return after his critically acclaimed 2019 film "Uncut Gems".

Production:

"Marty Supreme" is produced by A24, and it is reportedly their most expensive film to date, surpassing "Civil War".

Inspiration:

The film is loosely based on the life of Marty Reisman, a table tennis champion known as "The Needle" for his slight build, who started as a hustler in Manhattan and became a fixture in the Lower East Side and downtown Manhattan scene.
