Leon: The Professional

Léon: The Professional, directed by Luc Besson, tells the story of Léon (Jean Reno), a quiet and efficient hitman in New York City whose solitary life is upended when 12-year-old Mathilda (Natalie Portman, in her breakout role) seeks his help after her family is murdered by corrupt DEA agents, led by a chillingly unhinged Norman Stansfield (Gary Oldman). As Léon teaches Mathilda the art of assassination, an unexpected and complex relationship develops between them, blending themes of vengeance, protection, and emotional rebirth. Stylish, intense, and emotionally charged, the film is a cult classic that redefined the action thriller genre.
