Sinners (2025) made Academy Award history with a record-breaking 16 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Ryan Coogler. The film also earned acting nominations for Wunmi Mosaku (Best Supporting Actress) and Delroy Lindo (Best Supporting Actor).
The film ultimately took home multiple Oscars, including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw (the first woman to win in the category), Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler, and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson.
Written and directed by Coogler (Black Panther, Creed), Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan in a striking dual role as the Smokestack twins. Set in the Jim Crow-era American South, the film follows the brothers as they return to their hometown only to confront a mysterious and malevolent force that threatens everything they know.
The film features a powerhouse ensemble including Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Miles Caton, and Delroy Lindo.
Behind the camera, Coogler reunites with many of his longtime collaborators, including cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw, production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, composer Ludwig Göransson, and costume designer Ruth E. Carter.
